Ford Tyres in Park Royal

The right tyre size for a Ford depends on the model, the generation and the wheels fitted. A Mk4 Focus can be on 205/60 R16, 215/50 R17 or 235/40 R18, and the Focus ST also uses 235/35 R19. The size is printed on the tyre sidewall, and Ford puts the recommended pressures on a label on the driver-side B-pillar. Find your model below, then book at our Park Royal garage in NW10. Ford tyre sizes by model

Sizes for 13 Ford models and generations, cross-checked against tyre-maker and retailer fitment listings. One model often lists several sizes, one per wheel option. Fitment listings are a guide: the size on your own tyres, or on the placard in the door frame, is the one to match.

Ford models at a glance

• Fiesta Mk8: The 2017 to 2023 Fiesta uses 195/60 R15, 195/55 R16, 205/45 R17 or 205/40 R18, and the 1.5 EcoBoost ST is listed on the 17 and 18-inch sizes with its own pressure table.
• Fiesta Mk7: The 2013 to 2017 facelifted Fiesta ranges from 175/65 R14 on entry trims through 195/55 R15 and 195/45 R16 to 205/40 R17 on the 1.6 EcoBoost ST.
• Focus Mk4: The 2018 to 2025 Focus hatchback and estate use 205/60 R16, 215/50 R17 or 235/40 R18, and the Focus ST adds 235/35 R19.
• Focus Active: The raised Mk4 Focus Active has its own table in Ford's handbook, with 215/55 R17 or 215/50 R18.
• Focus Mk3: The 2011 to 2018 Focus was listed on 205/55 R16, 215/55 R16, 215/50 R17 and 235/40 R18, with 235/35 R19 on the ST.
• Kuga Mk3: The Kuga from 2019 uses 225/65 R17, 225/60 R18, 225/55 R19 or 245/45 R20, and snow chains are allowed only on the 17 and 18-inch sizes, front wheels only.
• Kuga Mk2: The 2012 to 2019 Kuga uses 235/55 R17, 235/50 R18 or 235/45 R19, all three listed for every engine.
• Puma: The Puma from 2019 uses 205/65 R16, 215/55 R17, 215/50 R18 or 225/40 R19, and the Puma ST runs 225/40 R19 93Y XL with its own pressure table.
• Transit Custom Mk1: The 2012 to 2023 Transit Custom runs commercial 215/65 R15C, 215/65 R16C or 215/60 R17C tyres, and the Sport's 18-inch wheels take a 235/50 R18 XL car-type tyre.
• Transit Custom Mk2: The Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom from 2023 use 215/65 R16C, 215/60 R17C or 235/50 R19C, and Ford recommends the 16-inch steel wheels for snow chains.
• Transit: The fourth-generation Transit from 2014 runs C-rated tyres from 215/65 R15C to 235/65 R16C, with 195/75 R16C or 205/75 R16C on twin rear wheels, set by the variant on the ID plate.
• Transit Connect Mk2: The Mk2 Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect use XL car-type tyres rather than C-rated van tyres, in 205/60 R16 or 215/55 R16.
• Ranger T6/PX: The 2012 to 2022 Ranger uses 255/70 R16, 265/65 R17 or 265/60 R18, and the 2019 to 2022 Ranger Raptor runs 285/70 R17.

Transit vans: size depends on the variant, not the trim

On a Transit or Transit Custom, the tyre size and pressure are set by the variant code (for example 290, 350 or 470) and the wheelbase shown on the vehicle identification plate, not by the trim level. A front-wheel-drive Transit 280 to 310 can be on 215/65 R15C or 215/65 R16C, heavier single-rear-wheel vans use 235/65 R16C, and twin-rear-wheel vans use 195/75 R16C or 205/75 R16C.

These are C (commercial) load-rated tyres, such as 215/65 R16C 109/107T, and they run much higher pressures than car tyres, with rear pressures of 4 to 5 bar and more on the heavier variants. There are two exceptions: the Transit Connect and the Transit Custom Sport's 235/50 R18 use XL (reinforced) car-type tyres instead of C-rated van tyres. When you book, give us the full size including the C or XL marking and the load index, read from the tyre sidewall or the door-frame label.

Ford pressures, performance models and the temporary spare

Ford handbooks put the recommended tyre pressures on the tyre information label on the driver-side B-pillar. Ford gives separate pressure tables for its performance models (the Focus ST, Puma ST and 1.5 EcoBoost Fiesta ST) and for driving at continuous speeds above 100 mph (160 km/h) or towing, so check you are reading the right line for your car and load.

Many Fords carry a temporary spare, such as T125/70 R16 or T165/70 R17, inflated to about 4.2 bar. It has a speed limit shown on its label, and Ford says the stability control should stay on while it is fitted. It is for getting you to a garage, not for everyday use.

If you use snow chains on a Mk3 Kuga, Ford allows them only on the front wheels and only with 225/65 R17 or 225/60 R18 tyres.

Wheel alignment on a Ford

Ford's handbooks say uneven tread wear could mean the wheel alignment is outside specification. Wide tyres like the 245/45 R20 on the Kuga, 235/35 R19 on the Focus ST or 265/60 R18 on the Ranger are not cheap to replace, so check the alignment before or when you fit new ones. If one edge is wearing faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, new tyres will wear the same way until it is corrected. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50.
