Exhaust Repair & Exhaust Centre in Park Royal
Exhaust diagnosis, repair and replacement.

A blowing exhaust gets fixed here by the section, not by selling you a whole system. The car goes on the ramp, we trace exactly where gas is escaping or metal is knocking, and we replace the failed joint, flexi, silencer or hanger with correct-fit parts. You see the fault underneath the car before we cut anything, and most vehicles leave quiet again the same day.
What are exhaust repairs?
An exhaust system is a sealed gas path running from the manifold to the tailpipe, and every part of it has a job. The downpipe and flexi joint absorb engine movement, the catalytic converter treats the gases, and the centre and rear silencers use chambers and baffles to cancel noise before it reaches the open air. Lambda sensors sit in that same path reading the gas, so a leak upstream of one lets fresh air in and confuses how the engine fuels itself. Most systems fail from the inside out: acidic condensation collects in the cold rear box of a vehicle doing short runs and eats through the steel long before the outside looks rusty. Rubber hangers perish, heat shields work loose, and clamped seams start to blow. We inspect the full run and replace only what has actually gone.
How we carry out exhaust repairs
We start the engine from cold and listen first, because a cracked joint chuffs on start-up and often seals itself as the metal expands. Then the vehicle goes up on the ramp and we work forward from the tailpipe: tapping the silencers for soft, rusted-through steel, pulling on every rubber hanger, feeling along the clamped seams for escaping gas, and shaking the system by hand to find the loose heat shield behind a rattle. Whatever we find, you get shown it underneath before we cut. The repair is done by section, so the failed flexi, joint or box comes off and a correct-fit part goes on with new clamps and gaskets. The engine then runs again and we listen a second time to confirm the blow has gone.
Silencers, flexi joints and hangers
These are the parts that fail most. Silencers rot from the inside when short trips never get the system hot enough to boil off the acidic condensation; a cracked flexi or clamped joint lets gas blow, often chuffing from cold; and perished rubber hangers let the system sag and knock. On the ramp we tap the silencers for soft, rusted-through steel, feel along the joints for escaping gas and pull on every hanger, then replace only the failed section with a correct-fit part and new clamps and gaskets.

Exhaust repairs and West London driving
Exhausts around Park Royal rot from the inside, because of how vehicles here get used. A van doing drops around the industrial estate, or a car that only runs as far as the Harrow Road and back, never gets the system hot enough for long enough to boil off the acidic condensation sitting in the rear silencer, so the steel softens from within while the outside still looks sound. Ground clearance does the rest. Speed cushions on the residential streets off Scrubs Lane, with a laden vehicle already sitting lower on its springs, bring the centre box and its hangers within scraping distance of the tarmac.
Why choose Park Royal Tyre & Alignment Centre for exhaust repairs
Exhaust work needs a ramp, a good light and somebody willing to get underneath and look properly, because that is the only way a snapped hanger gets told apart from a blowing seam. We are an RAC Approved Garage and an AA Approved Garage, and we quote from what the ramp actually shows rather than pricing a complete system over the phone. Where one section has failed, one section is what we replace, and you see the split flexi or the corroded seam for yourself first.
