Puncture Repair in Park Royal
Puncture repairs, balancing and valve replacement.

A repairable puncture costs a fraction of a new tyre, so we look before we sell. We take the tyre off the rim, judge the damage against the British Standard rules on where and how large a repair may be, and put it back sealed and rebalanced if it passes. If it fails, a new tyre starts from £35 fully fitted.
What is puncture repair?
A puncture repair is a regulated job, not a bottle of sealant. The British Standard for tyre repairs defines a minor repair area across the centre of the tread and sets a limit on hole size; damage in the shoulder or sidewall, where the casing flexes hardest, falls outside it and cannot legally be repaired. The tyre has to come off the rim to be judged, because the important evidence is inside: a nail hole is often clean, but a tyre driven soft shows scuffing and crumbled rubber on the inner liner where the sidewalls have folded on themselves. That damage is invisible from the outside and is the usual reason a tyre that looks fine is condemned. A proper repair seals the hole through the full thickness of the casing, not just the tread surface.
How we carry out puncture repair
Bring the wheel or the whole car in. We take the pressure reading first, then mark where the object sits before the wheel comes off, so we know where to look once the tyre is broken down. The tyre comes off the rim and is inspected inside and out under light: object removed, hole measured and located against the repairable area, inner liner checked for the scuffing that running soft leaves, bead and rim seat checked for damage. If it passes, the hole is prepared, sealed from the inside, the tyre goes back on, the wheel is rebalanced and pressures set. If it fails, we show you why before quoting a replacement.

- A nail or screw head visible in the tread
- Warning light returns days after topping up
- Hissing you can hear near one wheel
- Bubbles around the valve when it is soaped
- One tyre always needs air, the others never

Puncture repair and West London driving
Park Royal is an industrial estate, and industrial estates shed metal. Screws, banding strips and offcuts collect in the gutters and turning areas around Abbey Road and Acton Lane, then get pressed into tread by the next van across them. Scrubs Lane and the Harrow Road supply the other half of the problem: worn, patched surfaces with edges sharp enough to pinch a tyre against its own rim on a hard hit. The first tells you nothing for a week; the second can cut the inner liner immediately, which is why both need the tyre off the wheel to assess properly.
Why choose Park Royal Tyre & Alignment Centre for puncture repair
The money in punctures is in condemning tyres that did not need condemning. We do not do that: every puncture comes off the rim and is judged against the British Standard, and if it qualifies we repair it, even when a new tyre would earn us more. When a tyre genuinely cannot be repaired we will show you the damage on the inner liner rather than ask you to take our word for it.

“Great bunch of hardworking guys. Changed over my car's TPMS sensors to a new set of wheels and sourced new collars rather than replacing them, saving me four new ones and a second trip back.”
