How we carry out suspension repairs

The check begins with the vehicle on the ground, pressing down hard on each corner to count the rebounds and comparing ride height across all four. On the ramp we go round each wheel with a pry bar, loading every bush, drop link and ball joint to feel for play, then inspect the damper bodies for the oily film that means a seal has let go, and the springs for cracked or collapsed coils. You are shown whatever has been found before a price is discussed. Replacement means stripping that corner: strut out, spring compressed and transferred, new damper, top mount and bearing fitted, and bushes torqued at ride height so they are not left pre-loaded. We then advise a geometry check once the new parts have settled.
