Reading your tyre size and ratings
Every car tyre carries a code on the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16 91V. The 205 is the width in millimetres, 55 is the sidewall height as a percentage of that width, R16 is the wheel diameter in inches, 91 is the load index and V is the speed rating. It is essential to fit the correct size and ratings for your vehicle, and we always confirm them against your registration before we fit.
Understanding the EU tyre label
Since the label was updated, every new tyre we sell shows three graded measures. Fuel efficiency (rolling resistance) is rated A to E and affects economy. Wet grip is rated A to E and reflects wet braking distance, the single most important safety measure. External noise is shown in decibels with a wave rating. On damp UK roads we always steer drivers towards a strong wet-grip grade.
