What is Hunter 4-wheel alignment?
Hunter is a four-wheel alignment system, and the difference from front-only tracking is the reference it works from. A car's rear axle rarely points exactly where the body does. The small difference between the two is the thrust angle, and the front wheels have to be set relative to it, not to the chassis, or the steering wheel ends up off centre even though the toe figures read correct. How we carry out Hunter 4-wheel alignment
The vehicle goes onto the level ramp and Hunter targets are mounted to all four wheels. We roll it forward and back so the system cancels out any runout in the rims, then measure the rear axle first: rear toe on each side, and the thrust angle that comes out of the pair. That number sets the reference for everything in front of it. The steering wheel is locked dead straight with a holder, front camber and caster are read, then front toe is split evenly either side of the thrust line while the screen updates live on the track rods. Rear settings are corrected where the vehicle allows adjustment. A road check confirms the wheel sits straight, and you leave with a printed four-wheel report.
