Hyundai Tyres in Park Royal

The right tyre size for a Hyundai depends on the model, the generation and the wheels fitted. The current Kona runs 215/60 R17, 215/55 R18 or 235/45 R19 depending on the version, while every current UK Santa Fe Hybrid is on 255/45 R20. Sizes for 20 Hyundai models and generations, cross-checked against tyre-maker and retailer fitment listings. One model often lists several sizes, one per wheel option. Fitment listings are a guide: the size on your own tyres, or on the placard in the door frame, is the one to match.

Hyundai models at a glance

• i10 IA: The 2013 to 2019 i10 uses 175/65 R14 or 185/55 R15, with 155/70 R13 listed on 1.0-litre versions only.
• i10 AC3: The i10 from 2019 uses 185/55 R15 on the Advance and 195/45 R16 on the Premium and N Line, with 175/65 R14 on some earlier lower-power versions.
• i20 GB: The 2014 to 2020 i20 uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 or 205/45 R17.
• i20 BC3: The i20 from 2020 uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 or 215/45 R17.
• Bayon: The Bayon from 2021 uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 or 205/55 R17.
• i30 GD: The 2012 to 2017 i30 hatchback and estate uses 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16 or 225/45 R17.

• Tucson NX4: The Tucson from 2020 uses 215/65 R17 on the Element, 235/50 R19 on higher trims, and 235/55 R18 on some earlier UK trims.
• Santa Fe DM: The 2012 to 2018 Santa Fe uses 235/65 R17, 235/60 R18 or 235/55 R19.
• Santa Fe TM: The 2018 to 2024 Santa Fe uses 235/65 R17, 235/60 R18, 235/55 R19 or 255/45 R20.
• Santa Fe MX5: Every current UK Santa Fe Hybrid from 2024, Premium, Ultimate or Calligraphy, runs 255/45 R20.

Kona, Tucson and Santa Fe: the version decides the size

On Hyundai's SUVs the tyre size can change with the trim and the powertrain, not just the wheel diameter. On the current Kona (2023 onwards), the Advance 1.0T and 1.6T manual use 215/60 R17, but the Advance Hybrid uses 215/55 R18, as do every petrol and hybrid N Line, N Line S and Ultimate. The Kona Electric N Line, N Line S and Ultimate use 235/45 R19 instead. On the earlier Kona (2017 to 2023), the Hybrid is listed on 225/45 R18 rather than the 235/45 R18 used on other 18-inch versions.

The current Tucson (2020 onwards) uses 235/50 R19 on the Black Line, N Line Edition, N Line S and Ultimate, and 215/65 R17 on the Element, which is not offered as a Plug-in Hybrid 4WD. Earlier UK trims were also sold on 235/55 R18. Every current UK Santa Fe Hybrid (2024 onwards), from Premium to Calligraphy, runs 255/45 R20 front and rear.

Ioniq and Kona Electric tyres

Hyundai's electric models are listed on specific sizes. Every current UK Ioniq 6, Premium or Ultimate and rear or all-wheel drive, runs 245/40 R20 on 8.5J x 20 wheels, with Pirelli tyres fitted from new. The 225/55 R18 size is listed for the Ioniq 6 but not on any current UK trim. The Ioniq 5 (2021 to 2024) uses 235/55 R19 or 255/45 R20.

The first Kona Electric (2018 to 2023) uses 215/55 R17. The current Kona Electric uses 215/60 R17 on the Advance and 235/45 R19 on the N Line, N Line S and Ultimate. The earlier Ioniq hatchback (2016 to 2022), sold as a Hybrid, Plug-in and Electric, is listed on 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16 or 225/45 R17, but sources do not agree on which version uses which, so check the sidewall.

Match the load and speed index on the sidewall when you replace any of these tyres.

TPMS sensors and no spare wheel

Hyundai UK lists a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as standard on every trim of the current Tucson, Kona, Kona Electric, Santa Fe Hybrid and Ioniq 6. That means a tyre change on these cars involves the pressure sensor inside each wheel, so tell us your model when you book. We can replace TPMS sensors if one has failed.

The current Kona, Kona Electric, Santa Fe Hybrid, i10 and Ioniq 6 come with a Temporary Mobility Kit, a sealant and compressor, instead of a spare wheel. If you have used the sealant on a puncture, let us know before we take the tyre off.

N models, balancing and alignment

The performance N models use their own sizes: 225/40 R18 on the i30 N, 235/35 R19 on the 275PS i30 N Performance, and 235/40 R19 on the Kona N (2021 onwards). Some sources list these with a ZR speed rating, so check the sidewall and replace like for like.

Wide, low-profile tyres like the 255/45 R20 on the Santa Fe or the 245/40 R20 on the Ioniq 6 cost more to replace, so make sure the wheels are pointing the right way before new ones go on. If one edge is wearing faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, have the alignment checked when you fit new tyres, or the new ones will wear the same way. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50. If the steering wheel vibrates at speed, the wheels may need balancing, which we also do on its own.
