The right tyre size for a Jaguar depends on the model and the wheels fitted, and on the F-Type, the XJ and many XE versions the rear tyres are wider than the fronts. An F-Type on 20-inch wheels, for example, runs 255/35 R20 at the front and 295/30 R20 at the rear. - I-Pace X590: The 2018 to 2024 electric I-Pace uses 235/65 R18, 245/50 R20 or 255/40 R22, all with high load ratings to suit its weight.
Staggered sizes: front and rear tyres are not always the same
Every F-Type size is fitted as a staggered pair, with a wider tyre on the rear axle, from 245/45 R18 front with 275/40 R18 rear up to 255/35 R20 front with 295/30 R20 rear. The X351 XJ is listed the same way, for example 245/40 R20 front with 275/35 R20 rear. On the XE, the 18 and 19-inch sizes can be square or staggered, and the 20-inch set pairs 235/35 R20 fronts with 265/30 R20 rears. The 2011 to 2015 XF has a staggered 20-inch option too.
Tyres of different sizes cannot be swapped from front to rear to even out wear, so they wear and get replaced as separate pairs. When you book, read the size from a front tyre and a rear tyre, and tell us which axle you are replacing.
What the J marking on a Jaguar tyre means
Jaguar-approved original-equipment tyres carry a "J" marking on the sidewall, next to the size. It is Jaguar's equivalent of the star on BMW tyres or MO on Mercedes tyres. If you want to stay with a J-marked tyre, check your current tyres for the marking and mention it when you book, so we quote for the right tyre.
Load ratings on the I-Pace and the Jaguar SUVs
The I-Pace is a battery-electric SUV weighing more than two tonnes, and its factory sizes carry high load indices: 235/65 R18 110V, 245/50 R20 105V and 255/40 R22 103V. A replacement tyre needs to match the original load rating, so read the full size, including the load and speed code after it, from your sidewall.
The F-Pace and E-Pace also run large SUV sizes, up to 265/40 R22 on the F-Pace and 245/45 R21 on the E-Pace. Give us the complete sidewall code when you book and we will quote for the same size and rating.
Wheel alignment on a Jaguar
Wide and staggered Jaguar sizes, such as 295/30 R20 on an F-Type or 275/35 R20 on an XJ, cannot be rotated to spread wear. If one edge of a tyre is wearing faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, new tyres will wear the same way until the alignment is corrected. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50, and it is worth checking when you fit new tyres.

What does the J on my Jaguar tyre mean?
