Kia Tyres in Park Royal

The right tyre size for a Kia depends on the model, the generation and the wheels fitted. The current Sportage runs 215/65 R17, 235/55 R18 or 235/50 R19 depending on the grade and engine, and the XCeed uses different sizes from the Ceed it is based on. Kia tyre sizes by model

Sizes for 20 Kia models and generations, cross-checked against tyre-maker and retailer fitment listings. One model often lists several sizes, one per wheel option. Fitment listings are a guide: the size on your own tyres, or on the placard in the door frame, is the one to match.

Kia models at a glance

• Picanto TA: The 2011 to 2017 Picanto uses 155/70 R13, 165/60 R14 or 175/50 R15.
• Picanto JA: The Picanto from 2017 uses 175/65 R14 on the Pure and 195/45 R16 on the GT-Line and GT-Line S, with 185/55 R15 on 15-inch wheels and 155/80 R13 on some early entry versions.
• Rio UB: The 2011 to 2017 Rio uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 or 205/45 R17.
• Rio YB: The 2017 to 2023 Rio, including the 1.0 T-GDi 48V mild hybrid, uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 or 205/45 R17.
• cee'd JD: The 2012 to 2018 cee'd hatchback and estate uses 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16 or 225/45 R17, with 225/40 R18 on the cee'd GT.
• Ceed CD: The Ceed hatchback and Sportswagon from 2018 use 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16 or 225/45 R17, with 225/40 R18 on the Ceed GT and some other versions.
• XCeed: The XCeed from 2019 uses 205/60 R16 on the Pure and 235/45 R18 on the GT-Line and GT-Line S, different sizes from the Ceed hatchback.
• Stonic YB: The Stonic from 2017 uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 on the Pure, and 205/55 R17 on the GT-Line and GT-Line S, with 205/45 R17 also listed for some versions.
• Niro DE: The 2016 to 2022 Niro Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid uses 205/60 R16 or 225/45 R18.
• e-Niro: The 2018 to 2022 e-Niro uses 215/55 R17.
• Niro SG2: The Niro from 2022 uses 205/60 R16 or 225/45 R18 on the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid, and 215/55 R17 on the Niro EV.
• Sportage SL: The 2010 to 2016 Sportage uses 215/70 R16, 225/60 R17 or 235/55 R18.

• Sorento UM: The 2015 to 2020 Sorento uses 235/65 R17, 235/60 R18 or 235/55 R19.
• Sorento MQ4: The Sorento from 2020 uses 235/65 R17, 235/60 R18, 235/55 R19 or 255/45 R20, and the Plug-in Hybrid is listed on 235/55 R19 only.
• EV3: The EV3 from 2024 uses 215/60 R17 on the Air and 215/50 R19 on the GT-Line and GT-Line S.
• EV6: The EV6 from 2021 uses 235/55 R19 on the Air and GT-Line, 255/45 R20 on the GT-Line S, and 255/40 R21 on the EV6 GT.
• EV9: The EV9 from 2023 uses 255/60 R19 on the Air, 275/50 R20 on the GT-Line, and 285/45 R21 on the GT-Line S and EV9 GT.
• PV5: The PV5 electric van from 2025 is listed on 215/65 R16; check the load index and any C marking on the sidewall before ordering.

Sportage, Sorento and XCeed: the version decides the size

On several Kias the tyre size changes with the grade and the powertrain, not just the wheel diameter. On the current Sportage (2022 onwards), the Pure uses 215/65 R17, the Storm and the non-hybrid GT-Line and GT-Line S use 235/55 R18, and the GT-Line and GT-Line S hybrid use 235/50 R19. On the 2016 to 2021 Sportage, the 225/55 R18 size is not listed for every engine, including the 1.6 T-GDi 177.

The current Sorento (2020 onwards) Plug-in Hybrid is listed on 235/55 R19 only, and the 20-inch 255/45 R20 size is listed only for the 2.2 CRDi diesel. The Pure diesel and hybrid use 235/65 R17.

The XCeed crossover takes 205/60 R16 on the Pure and 235/45 R18 on the GT-Line and GT-Line S, which are different sizes from the Ceed hatchback (195/65 R15, 205/55 R16, 225/45 R17, or 225/40 R18 on the Ceed GT). If you drive a Ceed, Ceed Sportswagon or XCeed, give us the exact model when you book, or read the full size, including the load and speed index, from a tyre on the car.

Kia electric and hybrid tyre sizes

Kia's electric models each have their own sizes. The EV6 (2021 onwards) uses 235/55 R19 on the Air and GT-Line and 255/45 R20 on the GT-Line S, while 255/40 R21 on 21-inch wheels is listed only for the EV6 GT. The EV9 uses 255/60 R19 on the Air, 275/50 R20 on the GT-Line, and 285/45 R21 on the GT-Line S and EV9 GT. The EV3 uses 215/60 R17 on the Air and 215/50 R19 on the GT-Line and GT-Line S.

On the Niro, the electric version uses a different size from the hybrids. The e-Niro (2018 to 2022) and the Niro EV (2022 onwards) are listed on 215/55 R17, while the Niro Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid use 205/60 R16 or 225/45 R18. Some sources also list 215/55 R17 for the first Niro Plug-in Hybrid, so check the sidewall on a PHEV with 17-inch wheels.

The PV5 electric van is listed on 215/65 R16. Sources do not mark it as a C (commercial) tyre, so confirm the load index and any C marking on the sidewall before ordering.

TPMS and no spare wheel

Kia UK lists a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as standard on the current Picanto, Stonic, Niro, Sportage, Sorento, EV3, EV6 and EV9. Tell us your model when you book. If a TPMS sensor has failed, we can replace it.

The current Picanto, Stonic, XCeed, Niro, Sportage, EV3, EV6 and EV9 come with a Tyre Mobility Kit, a sealant and compressor, instead of a spare wheel. The current Sorento has a temporary space-saver spare. If you have used the sealant on a puncture, let us know before we take the tyre off.

Checking sizes, balancing and alignment

Some Kias list two sizes on the same wheel diameter. The Stonic, for example, is listed on 205/55 R17 on the GT-Line and GT-Line S, but 205/45 R17 is also listed for the 1.0 T-GDi 120, so check the sidewall before ordering 17-inch tyres. Match the load and speed index as well as the size.

Wide tyres like the 285/45 R21 on the EV9 or the 255/45 R20 on the Sorento and EV6 cost more to replace, so make sure the wheels are pointing the right way before new ones go on. If one edge is wearing faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, have the alignment checked when you fit new tyres, or the new ones will wear the same way. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50. If the steering wheel vibrates at speed, the wheels may need balancing, which we also do on its own.
