Porsche Tyres in Park Royal

Most Porsches need two tyre sizes, one for the front and a wider one for the rear. A 992 911 Carrera S uses 245/35 R20 front and 305/30 R21 rear, and a 718 Cayman on 18-inch wheels uses 235/45 R18 front and 265/45 R18 rear. Your sizes are on the tyre sidewalls. Porsche tyre sizes by model

Sizes for 15 Porsche models and generations, cross-checked against tyre-maker and retailer fitment listings. One model often lists several sizes, one per wheel option. Fitment listings are a guide: the size on your own tyres, or on the placard in the door frame, is the one to match.

Porsche models at a glance

• 911 991: The 2011 to 2019 911 runs staggered sizes: 235/40 R19 front with 285/35 R19 or 295/35 R19 rear, or 245/35 R20 front with 295/30 R20 or 305/30 R20 rear.
• 911 992: The 911 from 2019 uses 235/40 R19 front with 295/35 R20 rear on the Carrera and Carrera 4, and 245/35 R20 or 255/35 R20 front with 305/30 R21 or 315/30 R21 rear on the other versions.
• Boxster 981: The 2012 to 2016 Boxster runs staggered pairs: 235/45 R18 with 265/45 R18, 235/40 R19 with 265/40 R19, or 235/35 R20 with 265/35 R20.
• Cayman 981: The 2013 to 2016 Cayman runs staggered pairs: 235/45 R18 with 265/45 R18, 235/40 R19 with 265/40 R19, or 235/35 R20 with 265/35 R20.
• 718 Boxster 982: The 718 Boxster from 2016 uses 235/45 R18 with 265/45 R18 on the base car, 235/40 R19 with 265/40 R19 on the S, and 235/35 R20 with 265/35 R20 on the GTS.
• 718 Cayman 982: The 718 Cayman from 2016 uses the same staggered 18, 19 and 20-inch pairs as the 718 Boxster, with 245/35 R20 front and 295/30 R20 rear on the GT4 and GT4 RS.
• Macan 95B: The 2014 to 2024 Macan runs staggered pairs from 235/60 R18 with 255/55 R18 up to 265/40 R21 with 295/35 R21.
• Macan Electric: The Macan Electric from 2024 uses 235/55 R20 with 285/45 R20, 255/45 R21 with 295/40 R21, or 255/40 R22 with 295/35 R22.
• Cayenne 92A: The 2014 to 2017 Cayenne uses one size on all four wheels: 255/55 R18, 265/50 R19, 275/45 R20 or 295/35 R21.
• Cayenne 9YA: The 2018 to 2023 Cayenne runs staggered sizes, such as 255/55 R19 front with 275/50 R19 rear, or 285/40 R21 front with 315/35 R21 rear on the GTS and Turbo S E-Hybrid.
• Cayenne 9YA facelift: The Cayenne from 2023 starts at 20-inch wheels, with 255/55 R20 and 295/45 R20, 285/45 R21 and 315/40 R21, or 285/40 R22 and 315/35 R22 pairs.
• Panamera 971: The 2016 to 2024 Panamera uses 265/45 R19 with 295/40 R19, 275/40 R20 with 315/35 R20, or 275/35 R21 front with a 325/30 R21 or 315/30 R21 rear.
• Panamera G3: The Panamera from 2024 uses 265/45 R19 with 295/40 R19, 275/40 R20 with 315/35 R20, or 275/35 R21 with 325/30 R21.
• Taycan Y1A: The 2019 to 2024 Taycan uses 225/55 R19 with 275/45 R19, 245/45 R20 with 285/40 R20, or 265/35 R21 with 305/30 R21.
• Taycan Y1A facelift: The Taycan from 2024 uses the same 19, 20 and 21-inch pairs as before, plus a second 21-inch set of 245/40 R21 with 285/35 R21.

N0, N1 and N2: Porsche-approved tyres

Tyres approved by Porsche carry an N marking on the sidewall. N0 is the first approved version of a tyre in that size, and later approved versions are marked N1, N2 and so on. UK tyre retailers flag N-marked tyres as Porsche approved in their listings.

Check the sidewall of your current tyres for the marking before you order. If you want to keep the car on Porsche-approved tyres, choose a replacement that carries an N marking in the same size.

Staggered sizes: different tyres front and rear

Almost every Porsche sold from 2012 has wider tyres on the rear axle than the front. That covers the 911 (991 and 992), the Boxster and Cayman (981 and 718), the Macan, the Cayenne from 2018, the Panamera and the Taycan. The front and rear tyres cannot be swapped between axles, so each axle is replaced with its own size. The exception is the second-generation Cayenne (92A, 2010 to 2017), which uses one size on all four wheels.

The 992 911 goes further and uses different rim diameters front and rear: 20-inch front with 21-inch rear on the Carrera S, 4S, T, GTS and Turbo, and 19-inch front with 20-inch rear on the Carrera and Carrera 4.

Read the size from the tyre, not the model name

Some Porsches have more than one factory size for the same wheel diameter. The 971 Panamera has two 21-inch rear sizes, 315/30 R21 and 325/30 R21, depending on the wheel design. The 2024-on Taycan has two 21-inch sets, 245/40 R21 with 285/35 R21, or 265/35 R21 with 305/30 R21. Wheel options also vary between trims, so two cars with the same badge can need different tyres.

Before you book, read the full size from a front tyre and a rear tyre, including the load and speed index. A replacement must match or exceed the load and speed index for your car.

Alignment on a Porsche

Porsche rear tyres are wide and low-profile, from 265/45 R18 on an 18-inch Boxster or Cayman up to 325/30 R21 on a Panamera Turbo S, so they are costly to replace. Because they cannot be moved to the other axle, uneven wear cannot be evened out by rotating them. If one edge of a tyre is wearing faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, have the alignment checked when you fit new tyres, or the new ones will wear the same way. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50.

If the steering wheel vibrates at speed, the wheels may need balancing, which we also do on its own. Balancing is included when we fit a new tyre.
