The right tyre size for a Renault depends on the model, the generation and the wheels fitted. A Clio IV or Clio V on 16-inch wheels takes 195/55 R16, a Captur II on 17-inch wheels takes 215/60 R17, and every Scenic IV and Grand Scenic IV checked takes 195/55 R20. Renault tyre sizes by model

Sizes for 18 Renault models and generations, cross-checked against tyre-maker and retailer fitment listings. One model often lists several sizes, one per wheel option. Fitment listings are a guide: the size on your own tyres, or on the placard in the door frame, is the one to match.

Renault models at a glance

• Clio IV: The 2012 to 2019 Clio uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 or 205/45 R17, with 205/40 R18 as an 18-inch option on the Clio Renaultsport 200.
• Clio V: The Clio from 2019 uses 185/65 R15 on entry versions, 195/55 R16 on 16-inch wheels and 205/45 R17 on 17-inch wheels.
• Clio VI: The Clio built from September 2025 is listed on 195/60 R16 or 205/45 R18, different sizes from the Clio V.
• Captur I: The 2013 to 2019 Captur uses 195/65 R15, 205/60 R16 or 205/55 R17.
• Captur II: The Captur from 2019 uses 215/65 R16, 215/60 R17 or 215/55 R18, with 225/45 R19 added on the 2024 facelift.
• Megane III: The 2008 to 2016 Megane uses 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16, 205/50 R17 or 225/40 R18, with 225/45 R17 listed for the 2.0 dCi 160/163.
• Megane IV: The 2016 to 2023 Megane uses 195/65 R15 to 225/40 R18, with 225/45 R17 on the GT TCe 205 and 235/40 R18 or 245/35 R19 on the Megane R.S. 280/300.
• Megane E-Tech Electric: The Megane E-Tech Electric from 2022 uses 195/60 R18 on 18-inch wheels or 215/45 R20 on 20-inch wheels.
• Kadjar: The 2015 to 2022 Kadjar uses 215/65 R16, 215/60 R17, 215/55 R18 or 225/45 R19, and wheel options vary by version.
• Arkana: The Arkana from 2021 uses 215/60 R17 on 17-inch wheels or 215/55 R18 on 18-inch wheels.
• Austral: The Austral from 2022 uses 215/65 R17, 235/55 R18, 205/55 R19 or 235/45 R20, covering mild hybrid and E-Tech full hybrid versions.
• Zoe: The 2012 to 2024 Zoe uses 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16 or 205/45 R17, with 215/45 R17 on 2019-on facelift versions.
• Scenic / Grand Scenic IV: Every 2016 to 2022 Scenic IV and Grand Scenic IV version checked uses 195/55 R20 on 20-inch wheels.
• Trafic III: The Trafic from 2014 uses commercial 205/65 R16C, 215/65 R16C or 215/60 R17C tyres.
• Master III: The 2010 to 2024 Master uses commercial 215/65 R16C, 225/65 R16C or 235/65 R16C tyres, with 195/75 R16C on rear-wheel-drive twin-rear-wheel versions.
• Master IV: The Master from 2024 uses commercial 205/75 R16C or 215/75 R16C tyres.
• Kangoo II: The 2008 to 2021 Kangoo uses 195/65 R15 on most versions and 185/70 R14 on base versions such as the 1.5 dCi 75.
• Kangoo III: The Kangoo from 2021 uses 195/65 R15, 205/60 R16 or 205/55 R17.

Clio, Captur and Megane: check the generation and version

The Clio IV (2012 to 2019) and Clio V (2019 onwards) share their main sizes: 185/65 R15 on 15-inch wheels, 195/55 R16 on 16-inch and 205/45 R17 on 17-inch. The Clio VI, built from September 2025, does not. It is listed on 195/60 R16 and 205/45 R18. Because the Clio V and Clio VI overlap in 2025, check which generation you have before ordering.

On the Captur II (2019 onwards), the 16-inch size is 215/65 R16 on petrol and diesel versions, but TireWheelGuide does not list it for the E-Tech hybrids, and Michelin and Tyreleader do not list it for the facelifted 1.2 TCe 114. The 2024 facelift added a 19-inch option on 225/45 R19.

The Megane III and Megane IV each have two different 17-inch sizes. Most versions use 205/50 R17, while 225/45 R17 is listed for the Megane III 2.0 dCi 160/163 and the Megane IV GT TCe 205. The wheel diameter alone will not tell you which one you need, so read the size off a tyre on the car.

Scenic, Megane E-Tech, Austral and Zoe: less common sizes

Several recent Renaults use tall, narrow tyres on large wheels. Every Scenic IV and Grand Scenic IV (2016 to 2022) version checked is listed on 20-inch wheels with one size, 195/55 R20. The Megane E-Tech Electric uses 195/60 R18 or 215/45 R20, and the Austral's 19-inch wheels take 205/55 R19.

On the Zoe, two different sizes fit 17-inch wheels: 205/45 R17, and 215/45 R17 on 2019-on facelift versions. Check the sidewall rather than going by the wheel size.

Trafic, Master and Kangoo vans: match the C rating and load index

The Trafic and Master use commercial C-rated tyres with a dual load index, for example 215/65 R16C 106/104T on the Trafic and 225/65 R16C 112/110R on the Master. A replacement must match the C rating and the load index, not just the dimensions.

The third-generation Trafic (2014 onwards) was also sold as the Vauxhall Vivaro (2014 to 2019), Nissan NV300, Nissan Primastar and Fiat Talento. The Master III (2010 to 2024) was also sold as the Vauxhall Movano and Nissan NV400, with front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive and single or twin rear wheels. Tyre sizes differ between these versions, from 215/65 R16C to 235/65 R16C, and 195/75 R16C on rear-wheel-drive twin-rear-wheel vans, so the label on the door pillar is the reference.

The Kangoo II uses 195/65 R15 on most versions and 185/70 R14 on base versions such as the 1.5 dCi 75. The Kangoo III (2021 onwards) uses 195/65 R15, 205/60 R16 or 205/55 R17.

What to check when buying, and alignment

Match the load and speed index as well as the size. The index follows the size on the sidewall, for example 106/104T on a Trafic's 215/65 R16C. Some tyre databases list extra sizes for Renaults that Michelin does not, so the tyres on your car and the door-pillar label are what to go by.

Before new tyres go on, look at the wear on the old ones. If one edge has worn faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, have the alignment checked, or the new tyres will wear the same way. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50. If the steering wheel vibrates at speed, the wheels may need balancing, which we also do on its own. If a TPMS warning stays on after new tyres, or a sensor has failed, we can replace it.
