Honda Tyres in Park Royal

The right tyre size for a Honda depends on the model, the generation and the wheels fitted. A Jazz can be on 185/60 R15 or 185/55 R16, while the current Civic Type R runs 265/30 R19, and the Honda e has different sizes front and rear. Honda tyre sizes by model

Sizes for 15 Honda models and generations, cross-checked against tyre-maker and retailer fitment listings. One model often lists several sizes, one per wheel option. Fitment listings are a guide: the size on your own tyres, or on the placard in the door frame, is the one to match.

Honda models at a glance

• Jazz GK: The 2015 to 2020 Jazz uses 185/60 R15 or 185/55 R16, and the 2018 facelift kept the same sizes.
• Jazz GR e:HEV: The Jazz e:HEV from 2020 uses 185/60 R15 or 185/55 R16, and the Crosstar uses a taller 185/60 R16.
• Civic FK (9th gen): The 2012 to 2017 Civic hatchback and Tourer use 205/55 R16, 225/45 R17 or 225/40 R18, with 195/65 R15 on some hatchbacks.
• Civic FK (10th gen): The 2017 to 2022 Civic hatchback uses 215/55 R16, 235/45 R17 or 235/40 R18.
• Civic FL e:HEV: The Civic e:HEV from 2022 uses 215/50 R17 on Elegance and 235/40 R18 on Sport and Advance.

Jazz, Civic and Type R: check the generation and the full size

Honda sizes change between generations, so the tyre on your last Honda may not fit this one. The 2012 to 2017 Civic uses 195/65 R15 up to 225/40 R18, the 2017 to 2022 Civic uses 215/55 R16, 235/45 R17 or 235/40 R18, and the Civic e:HEV from 2022 uses 215/50 R17 or 235/40 R18. The Tourer estate (2014 to 2017) shares the hatchback's 16, 17 and 18-inch sizes. The 4-door Civic saloon is not covered here, so read its sidewall.

The Jazz Crosstar is a common catch. Its 16-inch tyre is 185/60 R16, a taller size than the 185/55 R16 on the standard Jazz with 16-inch wheels. Honda UK also lists different load and speed ratings across the current Jazz range: 88H on the 15-inch tyre, 87H on the 16-inch Advance and 86H on the Crosstar.

Each Type R generation has its own size: 235/35 R19 on the FK2 (2015 to 2017), 245/30 R20 on the FK8 (2017 to 2022) and 265/30 R19 on the FL5 (2022 onwards). These are performance sizes, so read the load and speed rating from the sidewall and give us the full size when you book.

Hybrid SUVs and the Honda e

Honda UK lists one tyre size across the current HR-V e:HEV range, 225/50 R18, and one for the ZR-V, 225/55 R18. The CR-V from 2023 uses 235/60 R18 on the e:HEV and on the e:PHEV Elegance Tech, and 235/55 R19 on the e:PHEV Advance Tech. On the 2018 to 2023 CR-V, most versions use 235/60 R18, with 235/65 R17 on 2WD entry versions of the 1.5 VTEC Turbo. Sources disagree on the 19-inch size for that generation, so if yours is on 19-inch wheels, read the sidewall.

The electric Honda e (2020 to 2024) is rear-wheel drive and uses wider tyres at the back: 185/60 R16 front with 205/55 R16 rear, or 205/45 R17 front with 225/45 R17 rear. Front and rear are different sizes, so tell us which axle needs tyres when you book.

Uneven wear and alignment on a Honda

Honda UK advises that a tyre wearing more on one side than the other may mean the wheel alignment needs adjusting. If one edge is wearing faster than the rest, have the alignment checked before or when you fit new tyres, or the new ones may wear the same way. That matters most on the larger sizes, such as the Type R's 245/30 R20 or the CR-V's 235/55 R19, which cost more to replace. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50.

What to check before you buy

Honda UK recommends replacing tyres once the tread falls below 3mm, above the 1.6mm legal minimum, because stopping distances grow as tread wears. It says the correct pressures are in the owner's manual or on the sticker near the driver's door frame.

Honda UK's current spec sheets list a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel for the Civic, HR-V, ZR-V and CR-V, and a temporary spare or repair kit for the Jazz, so it is worth knowing your tread depth and tyre condition before a long trip. The current Jazz, Civic, HR-V and ZR-V also have Honda's Deflation Warning System as standard, which monitors for tyre deflation.
