Mazda Tyres in Park Royal

The right tyre size for a Mazda depends on the model, the generation and the wheels fitted. A CX-5 from 2012 to 2025 takes 225/65 R17 or 225/55 R19, and the Mazda2 Hybrid uses a different 16-inch size from the standard Mazda2. Sizes for 12 Mazda models and generations, cross-checked against tyre-maker and retailer fitment listings. One model often lists several sizes, one per wheel option. Fitment listings are a guide: the size on your own tyres, or on the placard in the door frame, is the one to match.

Mazda models at a glance

• Mazda2 DJ: The 2015 to 2025 Mazda2 uses 185/65 R15 or 185/60 R16.
• Mazda2 Hybrid: The Mazda2 Hybrid from 2022 uses 185/65 R15 or 195/55 R16, a different 16-inch size from the standard Mazda2.
• Mazda3 BM: The 2013 to 2019 Mazda3 hatchback and saloon use 205/60 R16 or 215/45 R18.
• Mazda3 BP: The Mazda3 from 2019, including Skyactiv-X and AWD versions, uses 205/60 R16 or 215/45 R18.
• Mazda6 GJ/GL: The 2012 to 2024 Mazda6 saloon and Tourer use 225/55 R17 or 225/45 R19, with 215/65 R16 also listed for some versions.
• CX-3: The 2015 to 2021 CX-3 uses 215/60 R16 or 215/50 R18 on both two-wheel-drive and AWD versions.
• CX-30 DM: The CX-30 from 2019 uses 215/65 R16 on two-wheel-drive versions only and 215/55 R18 on all versions.

• CX-5 KF: The 2017 to 2025 CX-5 uses 225/65 R17 or 225/55 R19, the same sizes as the first generation.
• CX-60 KH: The CX-60 from 2022 uses 235/60 R18 or 235/50 R20, and the 20-inch size is listed with two load indexes.
• MX-5 ND: The MX-5 from 2015, roadster and RF, uses 195/50 R16 or 205/45 R17.
• MX-30 DR: The MX-30 from 2020, electric and R-EV, uses 215/55 R18 on all versions.

Mazda2, CX-30 and MX-5: the version decides the size

The Mazda2 and the Mazda2 Hybrid look alike but are different cars with different tyres. The standard Mazda2 (2015 to 2025) uses 185/65 R15 or 185/60 R16. The Mazda2 Hybrid (2022 onwards) uses 185/65 R15 or 195/55 R16, so the 16-inch tyres do not swap between the two. Tell us which one you drive when you book.

On the CX-30 (2019 onwards), the 16-inch size, 215/65 R16, is listed only for two-wheel-drive versions. All-wheel-drive versions are listed on 215/55 R18 only.

On the current MX-5 (2015 onwards), roadster and RF, the 1.5 is listed on 195/50 R16 and the 184 hp 2.0 on 205/45 R17. The 160 hp 2.0 RF is listed on both sizes, so check the car rather than going by engine size alone.

Load index, speed rating and original tyres

Match the load and speed index as well as the size. On the CX-60 (2022 onwards), the 20-inch size 235/50 R20 is listed with two load indexes, 100W and 104W, so read the index from a tyre on the car before ordering. The 18-inch CX-60 size is 235/60 R18.

The Mazda6 (2012 to 2024) is listed on 225/55 R17 and 225/45 R19. Some sources also list 215/65 R16, one of them with a Q speed rating (98Q), but Mazda UK's tyre label page does not, so check the sidewall before ordering 16-inch tyres for a Mazda6.

Mazda UK publishes a tyre label page listing the original size, load and speed rating and brand for each current model. On the MX-5, for example, it lists Yokohama Advan Sport V105 in 195/50 R16 and Bridgestone Potenza S001 in 205/45 R17. Where more than one brand is listed, Mazda says the brand fitted depends on production.

All-wheel drive, alignment and balancing

Mazda offers all-wheel drive on selected CX-5 models and on the CX-60 plug-in hybrid, and the CX-60 is built on a rear-wheel-drive platform. Mazda says its i-ACTIV AWD system watches for small differences in wheel speed to decide how to share torque between the wheels, so tell us if your car is AWD when you book and keep the tyres on each axle matched.

If one edge of a tyre is wearing faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, have the alignment checked when you fit new tyres, or the new ones will wear the same way. This matters more on larger sizes such as the 235/50 R20 on the CX-60 or the 225/55 R19 on the CX-5. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50. If the steering wheel vibrates at speed, the wheels may need balancing, which we also do on its own.
