Tyre pressures and the pressure-loss warning on a Skoda
A Škoda Auto tyre specialist says that after you inflate your tyres to a new pressure, you need to store the new value in the infotainment system so the pressure-loss warning works correctly. Do this after new tyres are fitted, and whenever you change pressures for a heavy load.
Škoda also says pressures should go up when the car is fully loaded, and that the warning usually only comes on once pressure drops below a critical level. It does not replace regular checks with a gauge. Getting pressures wrong affects wear: Škoda notes that, in extreme cases, an underinflated tyre wears fastest on its outer edges and an overinflated one in the centre of the tread.
Enyaq: electric Skoda tyres and staggered sets
The Enyaq (2020 onwards) is listed on 18 to 21-inch sizes, from 235/60 R18 to 235/45 R21. Some versions on 19, 20 and 21-inch wheels run a staggered set: 235-section tyres on the front and wider 255-section tyres on the rear, for example 235/55 R19 front with 255/50 R19 rear. Because the sizes differ, these tyres cannot be swapped front to rear, and replacements are bought per axle. Check both axles before you book and give us the front and rear sizes.
Škoda UK lists its spare wheel kit as not available for the Enyaq. On models where it is offered (Fabia, Scala, Octavia, Superb, Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq), it is not a full-sized wheel, so you must keep to the maximum speed on its label for the rest of your journey.
Kerbed wheels and alignment on a Skoda
Škoda UK research with 2,000 drivers found that kerb impacts, often while parallel parking, are the biggest single cause of alloy wheel damage. Škoda UK notes that a kerb strike can also damage the tyre and cause tracking (alignment) problems.
If you have hit a kerb, or one edge of a tyre is wearing faster than the rest, or the steering pulls or sits off-centre, have the alignment checked before or when you fit new tyres. Otherwise the new ones will wear the same way. This matters more on larger sizes such as 255/40 R20 on the Kodiaq or 235/40 R19 on the Superb, which cost more to replace. We use Hunter equipment for four-wheel alignment, from £50.
What to check before you buy Skoda tyres
Many Skoda models are listed on several sizes, so read the size from the sidewall of the tyres on your car rather than going by the model name. Two examples: the Karoq is listed on both 215 and 225-width tyres in 16, 17 and 18 inches, with the 225 sizes confirmed on 4x4 versions; and the Octavia Mk3 19-inch 225/35 R19 is listed for vRS versions. If your car has different sizes front and rear, like some Enyaq versions, note both.

Can I rotate the tyres on my Skoda Enyaq?
Not front to rear if your Enyaq has a staggered set. Some versions on 19, 20 and 21-inch wheels have wider 255-section rear tyres and 235-section fronts, so the tyres cannot be swapped between axles. Check the sidewalls on both axles; if all four show the same size, they are not staggered.
I hit a kerb in my Skoda. Should I get the alignment checked?
